Flaxseed is the seed of the Linumusitassimum plant and belongs to the Lineaceae family.
It is an annual plant with blue flowers that produces small brown seeds, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, proteins, fibre and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
According to many studies, its consumption in a balanced diet helps prevent and control diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases and reduce cholesterol.
Recommended daily intake :to get all the nutrients and fiber of flaxseed 1-2 tablespoons of soup daily is enough.
Serving suggestions:
– add it to salads, in your yoghurt or even in the milk flakes in your breakfast
– Sprinkle it on top of toast or slices of bread with honey and tahini, peanut butter, etc.
– add it to your smoothies
– add it to pastries (e.g. bread, breadsticks, cookies, biscuits, cakes, pizza)
– cook it with your pulses and rice (1-2 spoonfuls are enough)
